It’s Nothing New, It’s Life!, by Emanuel Lipciuc
“Why does Dad get so upset at me… Whoa! Is this hyperspace… no, a time warp!”
…I hate alarm clocks. For the record, it’s about the fifth time I’ve said it. And I’m sure you share my feelings. And I hope that you don’t share my impulses, because it’s the fifth alarm clock I’ve smashed this year. But if it comes down to my alarm clock versus my balding nerd of a boss, I’ll take the alarm clock any day. Now for my daily dose of two cups of frothing, steaming black coffee. It’s like staring into a void. Then my strawberry Cheerios before my kids show up. They’re adorable, but sometimes they implicitly require someone to be squashed, (not them or the cat, though). One good thing about technology is GPS. That way, all you have to worry about is others’ driving, as if they were playing Need for Speed.
People like the surpervisor think I’m the accountant of Black Dog Industries Inc. (We produce wheelchairs and such for dogs with “severe locomotory problems”. Incredible what some people will do for a whining pooch.) In reality, I am the top Assasin’s Creed player in my office. We play almost the whole day, and that’s why we do as much work as possible at home. That way we also avoid conversations.
It’s quitting time now. We’ll all have a round of sherry shots and back home. There I’ll also celebrate with my wife the fact that I got a 25% raise (At least on paper. I don’t know how it will work out in reality.) I’m happy as well. Oh, tomorrow is Saturday. That means no alarms and no more bosses. Good. And don’t mind my sarcasm. I still love my family and I’ll prove it.
