Taking a course in a foreign country is fun. It’s also exciting to learn in a different environment and to gain knowledge about that country and its people. There is no better way to learn a language than by living and mixing with native-speakers. Why not take this opportunity?
For as long as I remember, I have been eager to visit the UK. That is why, when at the end of the 11th grade I had the unique chance not only to visit England, but also to attend a two-week summer school in Cambridge, my enthusiasm was overwhelming. The unique experience of studying English at an advanced level right in the campus of Cambridge University– at “Ridley Hall College” changed my life entirely: it made me realise that England is beyond doubt the place in which I would love to study! I loved every minute of my stay and I then realised that it was the perfect place where I could benefit from a high standard education, a dream that has followed me ever since.
And this high school dream has not ceased to haunt me… Even though I finished my undergraduate studies in Bucharest, I am now determined to make a successful application to a master’s degree in Marketing at a top British business school. And my dream will surely come true, starting September 2011. But it was that one summer school that triggered my interest for studying abroad, that made me realise that UK was the ideal place in which I would love to study!
So, if you have this opportunity, I strongly recommend you to experience a 2 week summer camp first, and then decide if you really want to study there! Besides Cambridge University, Shakespeare School organises summer schools in many other locations you can choose from: London (@ top-ranked University College London), Oxford (@ Oxford Brookes University), Canterbury (@ University of Kent) & more! This would be just a first step towards broadening your horizons. Extra tip: this is also an excellent addition to your CV that might give you the edge of your competitors when applying to study abroad!
The courses range from Beginners through to Advanced. At the same time, you’ll learn about a different culture and people and be able to explore the country. For instance, during the week-end trips you can explore all that England has to offer: beautiful sights, historical landmarks and cultural assets. Oh, not to mention the fun sports and social programme in which you can interact with youngsters all over the world (from Brazil to Turkey, from Spain to China)! So you’ll hear the language all around you and speak it yourself: while shopping or socialising with your new international friends, reading the local newspapers or talking to native speakers in real-life contexts, even on a bus or in a pub. Just watch your English improve in leaps and bounds while you live locally and absorb the flavour of the country.
So why not take an exciting never-to-be-forgotten SUMMER SCHOOL to truly absorb the culture of your chosen country! There is definitely a lot out there to learn!
