What is LOVE? I would say it is all that matters in life, the reason why we come to this world… Whatever lessons we have to learn, love is clearly one important “school subject”.
You may be wondering why you read this in English even though I am Romanian, well, to tell you the truth it’s my love for English that made me choose English. After all, love should be everywhere, in all that we do and all that we are, as human beings.
And since it was a beautiful day today, kind of announcing the coming of spring which we all dream of, I realized Valentine’s Day was coming up. And yes, we do have a Romanian holiday as well, “Dragobete”, but to be honest with you, the more reasons we have to be dreamy, gooey and on Cloud 9, the better.
So yes, let’s celebrate!! Let’s remember all the butterflies we get when we are in love, when all the songs you hear have a message just for you and your love. Holding the hand of person you are fond of realy means the world to you. Love is what makes us tremble, write poetry, compose a song or write “I love you” on a parking lot. I know somebody who did that and I know how amazing his story was. Another guy put yellow post-its all over his girlfriend’s car, all of them saying what she wanted to hear most, a sweet “I love you”. He proposed to her then and there.
So why do we watch romantic comedies? Why do we like the story of “Romeo and Juliet” or “Tristan and Isolde”? I tell you why, because when it comes to love, to that love that charms us and puts a spell on us, we are just plain human and over romantic. Thank God for that… We shake, we tremble, we blush, we sigh and we cry, we might as well die in the arms of the loved one. Nothing else matters. We wish for that hug to last forever. So let me ask you one thing: it’s Valentine’s Day, it’s all magical and when it comes to love. The sky is the limit, so the question is this: what would YOU do for love?
