So far you have received tips on how to write a good description of a person, but being able to put down a well written description of a place may also be very helpful to you. For instance, if you write a story and you want to set the scene of the acion or if you want to write the review of a resort, hotel or of a city, you have to know how to organise details about it and your ideas properly.
Brainstorming before writing is always a good start! Here are some relevant points to consider before writing:
– Where is that place and how does it look like?
– When was it built? Who built it?
– What makes it special? What can you do there?
– What is your opinion/ other people’s opinion of it?
– How can you get there? What means of transport are there to go round?
– Why would you recommend other people to visit it?
Of course, at first, you might not have so much informationon the place you want to write about but don’t hesitate to do some research! You can always use the internet to find out useful and interesting facts about the sight or landmark you plan writing about.
In terms of structure, in the Introduction you should mention the location of the place and the reason why you have chosen to describe it. The main body may consist of two or three paragraphs in which you should mention general and specific details and also examples of activities to do in that place. Finally, in the conclusion, (re)state why you have chosen to describe that place, why you or other people like it and whether you recommend it to others. Don’t forget to check your work after you finish writing!
