Can you look at yourself and say you”re useful?, by Larisa Zudor, 16 years old, student at National College, Cluj-Napoca
“Lu , are you sleeping ?”, he told him while they were lying down on the smooth green grass in the shiny sun.
“No, I am not. What”s up?”, Lu replied.
“Do you believe in tales?”, asked Jim wondering why on Earth that chubby kid had many more friends than he did. After all, he was the ultimate target for bullies. So what made him so special ? Was that volunteering thing the reason or what?
“No, I don”t.”, said the above mentioned chubby kid rolling his eyes.
“However, do you believe in ghosts?”, he insisted.
“Be serious, buddy!”
“Well…but, Lu, do you believe in any kind of supernatural power or in paranormal?”, Jim asked anxiously.
“Jim, I actually do not believe in any of these things .I only believe in humans.”
“Humans?”
“Yes. I believe in our strength and our ability to control what”s going on in front of our very own eyes. “
“Lu, your perception about life overtakes me.”, said Jim a little bit puzzled.
“To begin with, people can do anything. Some of us are really bright, we”re trying day by day to develop our society and to improve our lifestyle so we”re taking action. We can use our intelligence to make the world better. I believe that our activity can help even the environment to be healthier or the poor people to feel rich even if it”s just for a flash-in-the-pan like moment. The only thing which helps is volunteering.”
“Volunteering?”
“Yes. For starters, volunteering means doing things to change something without expecting any fat pay packet in exchange. It consist of not nagging other people with the social problems. You should take the bull by the horns and make them see what”s wrong. Secondly, there are lots of organizations which provide you resources for projects. If you”re interested in helping others you can join groups who go to orphanages, hospitals or poor areas follow those people who visit various settings in order to clean them up or to plant new vegetation in the damaged parts. You should only find your interest. When you”re a volunteer your life changes 100%. It makes you feel accomplished.
Furthermore, volunteering is fun. Imagine a bunch of people with the same perception and problems. You”d experience that exquisite feeling of belonging. ”, said Lu.
“Well, I think you made me realize how much I can do. It”s great to have an attitude towards the belief which says the money rules the world. Humans” power is way better than those coins. LET”S VOLUNTEER!”
Proof that a stitch in time saves nine:
According to the first newspapers of 2019,after 10 years, Lu and Jim are the owners of the biggest empire based on volunteering organizations.
“Lu Hat and Jim Canvas have helped us again:150 orphanages constructed,200 hospitals helped, a forest cleaned. God bless you!”(News headline form “The Sun”)
