The following topic on our writing check list is the REVIEW. For those of you who dream to publish their writings one day, the ability of writing a good review is something to consider!
A review is, according to Oxford Dictionary, the critical asssessment of a book, play, film, etc. published in a newspaper or magazine or, more recently, on various web sites. So, the good news is that you can write a review on whatever topic intrests you most, from books to restaurants, and from hotels to computer games and IT gadgets! The purpose of such writing is to help the reader understand more about a certain topic. Therefore, you should do some research and be thoroughly informed before starting writing.
In terms of structure, your review should include a title, an introduction, a main body and a conclusion. Don’t forget to include examples of data or critical reference to support your claims about the topic you have chosen!
Here are some tips for writing proficient reviews:
- Choose a topic(you might refer to films, restaurants, books, plays, concerts and films, holiday destinations, gadgets and home appliances, hotels, music albums etc.)
- Offer useful information
- Answer the five WH questions: who, what, when, where and why
- Use arguments to sustain your views
- Be authentic despite citing other sources
